However, it is necessary to pause here for a moment and explain which insulating triple glazing is suitable and which, on the contrary, will not make you too happy.
If you are choosing quality windows, you should definitely be interested in theUw parameter, i.e. the transmittance of the whole window. For so-called passive houses, theUw value must be at least 0.8 W.m-2K-1. Another parameter calledUg is the heat transfer value through the glass - quality triple glazing has anUg value of less than 0.8 W.m-2K-1.
Up to this point, the decision is usually clear. Compare the parameters and you have made your choice. So what to look out for? The decisive "balance on the scales" is the solar gain parameter, stated as a g-value. This indicates what percentage of the sun's radiation passes through the window. For example, a window with a g=50% will let in 50% of the sun's radiation. If you want to save money in the spring and autumn, you will logically want to heat your home as much as possible with the sun's rays. However, you will often see windows that are excellent insulators but let in less than 40% of the sun's rays. This means more energy to heat and more expense.
